Top 5 Time-Saving Tips for Busy Moms
You don’t have to be super-mom to save time.
Here are the top 5 tips to help busy moms save time on a daily basis:
1. The Prep.
If you’re anything like me, waking up in the morning entails shuffling around your home in a complete fog with no depth perception or cognitive reasoning skills. I once packed my Old Spice deodorant stick in my lunch bag in place of my sandwich. Try to get things put together the night before so you don’t have to waste time (or think) the next morning. Fix all the lunches and stick them in the fridge, and set all the kids’ backpacks and your briefcase or work bag near the door.
2. The Lunch Break.
Optimize your lunch break by running errands, making phone calls or setting personal appointments. You can still eat your lunch, but for most people, that doesn’t take a full half hour or hour. Instead of staring at a wall for the remainder of your break, accomplish tasks and you’ll feel less stressed for the second half of your day knowing that you don’t have those errands hanging over you for when you get home.
While you’re cooking dinner, don’t just stare at that pot, waiting for the water to boil. Instead, get tomorrow’s lunches ready. That way, you won’t have to turn the kitchen upside down twice and you’ll save a lot of time, too.
4. Don’t Stop Until You Can Rest.
When you get home from work, the couch will call your name. Tell it to shut up. Change out of your work clothes but don’t sit down and watch TV. Instead, power through the remaining chores of the day so that you can get done earlier and have a longer, more relaxing evening. It’s difficult, but once you get into this habit, you’ll see it’s well worth it.
5. Sleep Saves.
It might seem counter-intuitive, but the more you sleep, the more time you’ll save. Get to bed early and get a good night’s sleep. If you’re rested the next day, you’ll spend less time in a daze and you’ll accomplish tasks more quickly, saving you time and stress throughout the day.
And if you want to save even more time, stay organized. It a proven fact that staying organized helps keep you focused and stress-free.
