How to Bring Nature Indoors

Filling your home with items from nature is a great way to incorporate outdoor living into your everyday indoor space. Many people choose to incorporate nature into their home décor to brighten up their homes. Check out the following ways to bring nature’s energy inside your home.

Add a Plant or Two

Houseplants are a great way to easily bring nature indoors. If you are new to having houseplants, consider starting small by creating an herb garden or cactus that would do well in a small space like a windowsill. If you are more adventurous, consider getting a taller plant that would do well in the corner of a room or in a dead space on the landing of the stairs. Bringing plants indoors adds live coloring to a space as well as help to filter the air.

Decorate With Wood

Bringing variations of wood into a home is a very trendy home décor style. Try incorporating pieces of wood, with the bark still attached as a decor element with natural and rugged texture. Reuse a fallen tree limb by cutting it to create candle stands. If there is a tree that has died in your yard consider cutting slices of the trunk to create potholders or displays on the kitchen table. There are many ways to use wood in your home décor and doing so will repurpose the wood as well as beautify your space.

Dried Plants

Consider decorating with picture frames that contain pressed plants or leaves from your garden. Use a shadow box to display dried roses or flowers in a hallway. If you received a beautiful bouquet of roses, consider drying them upside down and then displaying them in a vase. Dried plants can add both an organic and romantic feeling to any space even if it’s just a couple accents here and there.

Bird-Inspired Art

Birds of all kinds are really popular right now in home décor. You can easily find pictures or drawings of birds that will help to bring nature to your indoor space. Many signs and metal wall hangings also feature birds sitting on tree limbs. Owls are particularly trendy right now and can be seen on textiles such as throw pillows, blankets, and bedding. Highlighting one or more wildlife animals, in particular, will embody nature by tying all outdoor elements together.

Rocks and Stone

Bringing rocks into the home can create a beautiful and sophisticated look. Mound some up in a bowl to use as a centerpiece or scatter some around the base of candles to create a natural look. Use rock in your everyday life by choosing a stone bowl or coasters made from agate. Adding touches of solid rock in a home can promote a peaceful and tranquil energy throughout a home.

Bring nature indoors by adding a few of these items to your home. Choose live plants if you are up for it or consider adding easier aspects of nature with wood or stone accents. Allowing nature to have a prominent spot in your home will help to mesh outdoor beauty with indoor comfort.
