March 17, 2015

Business magazine cites company’s growth in its first decade of operations, along with call-center expansion and other milestones

A slideshow on Forbes.com highlighted the success of College Hunks Hauling Junk.

The rapid growth of College Hunks Hauling Junk has landed the company in yet another major national publication. This time, Forbes magazine has named our franchise to its list of the “Top 10 Young Entrepreneurs Who’re Creating Jobs.”

Forbes noted that College Hunks and our franchisees together employ more than 500 people nationwide, and cited our growing headquarters operations, which recently expanded to 10,000 square feet to accommodate our training facilities, and our growing support team — which includes the fast-growing Sales and Loyalty Center that takes calls, fields online requests for information, and books jobs for franchisees. The article also called attention to “Effortless Entrepreneur,” the book published by co-founders Omar Soliman and Nick Friedman.

Media attention is well deserved

The youth and energy behind College Hunks Hauling Junk is of great interest to national media outlets.

“We were very pleased to be among the remarkable entrepreneurs, and their companies, singled out by Forbes in this listing,” says Nick. “This kind of honor validates the work we and our franchise owners do every day to provide trustworthy, affordable junk removal and moving services in the communities we serve.”

College Hunks Hauling Junk has graced Forbes’ pages before, by way of “Three Rules for ‘Working Out’ Success in Franchising,” an article Nick wrote in 2013. Other media mentions include Entrepreneur magazine, where College Hunks Hauling Junk has made the Franchise 500 list five years in a row, and Inc. magazine, which has turned to Nick for articles about entrepreneurship.

Positive press boosts brand

Media attention is nothing new for College Hunks Hauling Junk and College Hunks Moving, who have been featured in the pages of USA Today, the Wall Street Journal, Fortune, Newsweek, Time and The Washington Post. Nick and Omar have also logged television appearances on CNN, MSNBC, Fox News, MTV, Bravo, A&E and many other networks. Those appearances equate to more than $30 million worth of free publicity, which helps build brand awareness that franchisees can tap into when they start their businesses.

Nick and Omar are particularly pleased to see the company singled out for creating jobs. The College Hunks franchise is focused on creating opportunities throughout the United States, and recruiting franchisees who like to mentor employees and help them embrace leadership roles. Teamwork, customer service and leadership pulse through the brand, and systems are designed to help franchisees coach their team and achieve.

“We are always happy to talk about the philosophy behind College Hunks Hauling Junk, which is that we ‘move the world,’” Nick says. “When we talk about our business practices, as well as what motivates us and our franchise owners, we get a lot of interest from people who want to be a part of what we’re building. It’s a very positive experience for all of us.”
