Our junk hauling franchise took time to celebrate success, have a little fun, and give back
College Hunks is a brand that knows how to mix business with pleasure, and there’s no better proof of that than our annual franchise conference and awards, which we recently held in our home base of Tampa, FL. We celebrated our junk hauling franchise owners’ successes, took some time to give back and heard some inspiring words to help build our future.
Celebrating our top performers
We started off the awards portion of the event by recognizing our top-performing locations:
- Long Island, NY
- Washington, D.C.
- Atlanta, GA
- Nashville, TN
- Philadelphia, PA
Some of our other awards celebrated the junk removal franchises with the highest per-population revenue (winner: Bend, OR), highest growth rates (winners: Sarasota, FL, and Philadelphia, PA) and fastest ramp-up for a new franchise (winner: Beaumont, TX).
We also recognized our top-performing sales agents from our national call center, and awarded our honor of “Hunk of the Year” to Vasilis Markou, Lead Captain at the Denver, CO, location.
“This award recognizes the outstanding contributions of a team member who fulfills the mantra of living our values every day,” says President and Co-Founder Nick Friedman. “To Vasilis, College Hunks is more than just a job. He considers it his home and his family. He started as a wingman and worked his way up to Lead Captain. He has been a part of three different College Hunks organizations and loves the fact that every single one inspired him differently to become the leader that he is today.”
Celebrating our culture and taking time to give back
A great brand also stands for something greater, so we make sure to also celebrate franchisees who exemplify the culture we’ve built in our franchise network. We honored franchisees with a series of Living Our Values Everyday awards named after the key elements of that culture:

- Building Leaders (Atlanta, GA)
- Create a Fun, Enthusiastic Team Environment (Kalamazoo, MI)
- Listen, Fulfill, and Delight (Beaumont, TX)
Amidst all the celebrating, we also took time to do something deeply important to our brand: giving back to our community. Our team and franchisees met at our headquarters to pack boxes for Feeding Children Everywhere, a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping end hunger. College Hunks and our franchisees donate an estimated 300,000 meals annually to the group, and volunteer regularly at the Hunger Projects they hold across the country.
