College HUNKS Hauling Junk & Moving Featured in Military Makeover with Montel

When honoring US Navy veteran Chris Hixon and his family was mission-critical for Military Makeover with Montel, College HUNKS Hauling Junk & Moving was there to help.

Hixon, who tragically lost his life defending the lives of students during a mass shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida on February 14, 2018, served his country during Operation Desert Storm and Desert Shield in 2007. He is survived by his wife Debra and their two sons, Thomas and Corey, who live in Hollywood, FL. The popular makeover show was providing a home renovation for the Hixons but that couldn’t happen until College HUNKS Hauling Junk & Moving, the nationwide junk removal and moving company, cleared out all the rooms.

“It was very important to us to be able to donate our team’s time, expertise and resources to help this family,” said Omar Soliman, co-founder of College HUNKS Hauling Junk & Moving. “Being the moving partner for Military Makeover with Montel the Hixon renovation was a true honor and part of our mission to give back to all of the communities where there are College HUNKS Hauling Junk & Moving franchisees.” Additionally, several College HUNKS franchisees are former service members adding another layer of meaning to the partnership with Military Makeover with Montel.

At College HUNKS, many of the successful franchisees who were previously service members, find a connection between their military training and leadership experience and their success as College HUNKS franchisees. Chad Rogers, former Major in the US Air Force and owner of College HUNKS Cincinnati, OH, is a 13 year veteran and father of three sons who recently explained that “There’s a parallel between a lot of the core values that the military teaches and what College HUNKS teaches and I also think that the discipline, responsibility, and effort that we learned in the military, the way we ran the operations, and the ‘can-do’ attitude. I think a lot of that transitions from the military, especially when you’re working with some of the younger members of the military. I think that transitions pretty directly to College HUNKS. It’s a physical, hard job and you need high energy – everyone feeds off each other’s energy.” He strives to be a good role model in his community and wants to be able to help people out who need employment as well as being a business owner that people in his community can connect with so he can help various community charities and organizations.

College HUNKS began in 2005 with two college buddies with a beat-up cargo van. In 2007, College HUNKS expanded into franchising efforts and took off across the United States and into Canada. Today, the company has more than 100 franchisees and strives to be a symbol for high-quality moving and junk removal services that are fast, flexible, and dependable. In 2019, the HUNKS hit the benchmark of $100 million in system-wide revenue. The company also added more new franchisees over the past year than in 2017 and 2018 combined. In addition, College HUNKS recently was listed within the top 3% of all franchise opportunities in the country.

With a strong commitment to supporting local communities, the company partners with several organizations, including:

Feeding Children Everywhere

Through College HUNKS’ partnership with Feeding Children Everywhere, the company contributes toward making a hunger-free world possible by donating two meals for every job it completes. So far, it has donated over one million meals and counting to this world-changing cause.

“Our partnerships help us donate and provide discounted services that help families in need in all of our local markets, as well as assist elder clients with special needs,” Soliman said. “All of our franchisees join us in these efforts as they understand that giving back to the communities where they live and work is part of being a good neighbor.” College HUNKS Hauling Junk & Moving currently has over 400 franchise territories available in the United States and Canada, including opportunities in areas such as Boston, Las Vegas, New Orleans, Dallas, Memphis, Salt Lake City, Los Angeles, San Francisco, and San Diego.
